Notes on membership for multi-guide operations
The membership process for each individual guide / instructor remains the same, except where documentation is relevant at the enterprise level. For example, training and licences would need to be submitted for every member, but common, whole of business, documents like safety management procedures, insurances etc can be provided to cover all applicants / members.
In the case of multi-guide operations, owners / directors can remove and add employees and sub-contractors up to the limit they have paid for, noting all members must still go through the vetting and membership approval process and all members must operate professionally as per the PFIGA code of practice. This multi-guide membership is only relevant while the individual is an employee or subcontractor of the business paying for the membership. If the individual stops guiding for the operation, then the membership is removed.
Employees or sub-contractors of a guiding operation who are not members are still encouraged to become a member of the PFIGA, and may choose to pay their fees and present their documentation in the usual fashion. In this circumstance, if the employee/sub-contractor has paid for the membership with their own funds, then this individual takes PFIGA membership with them if they leave a multi-guide operation and work for someone else or start their own business.
Only one guiding operation is promoted and recognised in the multi-guide membership option.
This membership category will be retrospectively applied, allowing current financial members running multi-guide operations to facilitate application of employees and sub-contractors up to the current investment level (e.g. up to 2 for single membership or up to 5 for those who have two single PFIGA memberships relevant to their guiding operation etc).
A ‘financial’ multi-guide operation can add an additional member at any time after payment up to the allocation limit that has been paid. However, these ‘new’ members will only be covered to the end date of membership payment.
